Getting to the Ice Maker Behind a Panelled Door
Every Designer column freezer carries its ice maker inside the compartment, behind the panelled door, so getting to it depends on how far that door swings and how the baskets come out. Why access is a door question
On a column freezer the ice maker is reached through the door, and the door is a cabinetmaker’s panel on a hinge. The hinges stop it at 105 degrees. Where the panel would strike a wall or an island at that angle, clips packed with the unit limit it to 90, and Sub-Zero’s use and care guide notes what that costs: with the swing limited, the top basket has to come out before the middle or lower one can. A 90-degree door changes the order of the work, not whether it can be done.
Taking the ice container out
The ice container lifts out once its basket is pulled to the stop. The guide also asks for the ice maker to be switched off while the container is out, and builds in a three-minute delay so cubes are not dropped in the meantime.
If the problem is no ice at all
